What I learned through my Wife’s Hospital Stay
Let me begin by saying my wife is ok.. She has some severally broken arms with some new hardware… Plates and screws but she is expected to recover completely..
What I learned from her hospital stay. I was amazed by her faith in God but also the staff and procedures with the hospital..
Allow me to jot a few down..
1. They were easy to identify
a. Each department had their own colors.. house keeping were in red, food services were in black
b. Each person who entered the room had an ID.. and what role or position they played for the hospital.
c. Each person, from the Dr to the house cleaning staff knew there roles
2. They keep their customer in mind.. The customer in this case was my wife.
a. Each person who entered the room took my wife’s interest in mind. Her healing and comfort!
b. Each person I came into contact with appeared to really enjoy…. no LOVE their job. It was as if they took a gift set and spiritual gift inventory.
3. They trained people.
a. They had nurses in training from IVY Tech, working together with a RN Nurse to learn and practice their role prior to graduating from College with a Nursing degree.
b. The active nurse shadowed the trainee. They asked questions, and got the appropriate support and teaching.
c. Even the persons who got ice for the patients trained younger, newer people.
I expect to write (Blog) more in the future on this topic as things come to mind. But I will end with a simple (But complex) question….
