It's just my junk

We all have junk in our heads. This is mine.

How many days do you have left?

Our students have started school… as of Sunday (8/19) they completed 5 of 180 days.. They are already counting down to summer.

It caused me to stop and reflect a bit. My comment to them was enjoy it, don’t rush it. Once you get a job you will be doing it for the rest of your life with no real end day… It caught them off guard but I think they got it.

Of course, as things work in my mind, it made me think more about the counting down time. We all do it.. how many days till Christmas? How many days to the weekend? How many days till your birthday or wedding or the next break from work, school etc? How many days left of winter, summer etc?

Do we have the same round of thoughts with life? How many days do you have to live? God is the only one who knows our days.  “But the exact day and hour? No one knows that, not even heaven’s angels, not even the Son. Only the Father. So keep a sharp lookout, for you don’t know the timetable. Peterson, E. H. (2005). The Message: The Bible in contemporary language (Mk 13:32–33). Colorado Springs, CO: NavPress.

I guess most don’t really look at their spiritual life the same as other areas of life. I am feeling challenged more and more the older I get (and ultimately closer to death) in doing my best to impact those who come in contact with me. I feel we all have a witness and the knowledge to help others know Christ and to walk with Him. Granted, we all need to keep studying the bible to increase our knowledge. God will not allow His word to be left without impact. He doesn’t work that way.

Some are called to tend the soil, some are called to plant the seeds, some are called to water the seeds etc… It is not our job to judge what we are to do or justify not doing something since God can use all.  Please don’t wait till tomorrow what you can do today.. especially when it comes to eternity.

Don’t be looking forward to the future without living in the present as you remember the past.
